Kerhonkson Accord First Aid Squad Disconnects
44 Year Old Telephone Number
KERHONKSON-ACCORD, NY – Dial 9-1-1 for medical emergencies.
The Kerhonkson Accord First Aid Squad (KAFAS) will be discontinuing their 7 digit emergency phone number since 9-1-1 is the number used to report medical emergencies in Ulster County since 09/11/1994.
KAFAS kept the traditional 7 digit emergency phone number operating since the community had been well educated and using the number for 44+ years.
The old number will remain active for one year with a recording to advise callers to hang up and dial 9-1-1. The number will be permanently disconnected on December 31, 2010.
KAFAS is a volunteer organization providing Basic Life Support services 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the Town of Rochester and a portion of the Town of Wawarsing.
People living in the area covered by KAFAS must dial 9-1-1 for all medical emergencies. Important: Anyone with a Lifeline device should contact their service provider to ensure that the device is contacting the correct 9-1-1 center. Lifeline service providers should contact the Ulster County 9-1-1 center by calling (845) 338-1440 for the correct number.
